-----
John Morgart was born on a farm near Rainsburg in Colerain Township, Bedford County, PA in 1863. Rainsburg is located in a fertile valley between Evitts Mountain and Tussey Mountain a few miles east of U.S. route 220 north of Cumberland, MD and south of Bedford, PA.
John Morgart moved to nearby Cumberland, MD where he owned and operated the Cumberland Produce Company, a wholesale produce business located on South Center Street, that shipped fresh fruit and vegetables between Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cumberland. Once a very successful business, it failed financially during the great depression of 1929 - 1934.
John and Emma Morgart lived on Baltimore Avenue at the corner of Bellevue Street in Cumberland before building a large and impressive brick home at 12 Decatur Street about 1914 - 1915. The Decatur Street home was lost due to debt after John's death in 1937. John and Emma Morgart are buried in the Mausoleum in Rose Hill Cemetery in Cumberland.
John and Emma Morgart's children were: Ralph Calvin, b. Aug 5, 1891, d. Oct 1980; Lulu Elizabeth, b. Oct 5, 1894, d. Feb 1993; and Francis Earl, b. Oct 29, 1901, d. Feb 1973.
