Vernon Arthur Sponsler of Altoona died at his home on Wednesday, December 2. He was born at Everett on February 27, 1897, a son of Arthur and Ida Sponsler. He was twice married, first to Margaret Patton who died in 1946, and later to Berta M. Kennedy. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Robert, in California and William of Rochester, N. Y. Five grandchildren, and three sisters and a brother also surviv: Mrs. Catherine Shoemaker of baltimore, Mrs. Mary Penning of Asbury Park, N. J., and Mrs. Ethel Mahone of Newport News, Va., and Theodore Sponsler of Warren. Mr. Sponsler was a veteran of World War I and a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad, a member of Grace Methodist Church, B. of R.T.B. of L.F. and E., the Altoona Eagles, Elks and Moose, the Tyrone VFW and Blazing Arrow Fire Co., the New Cumberland American Legion and the D.A.V.
