PROMINENT COLEBROOK TOWNSHIP MAN DIES

Burton Morgret, of Farrandsville Succumbs to Illness. Known as Sportsman.

Farrandsville Dec. 18 - Burton Morgret, widely known resident of Colebrook Township, died Sunday night (Dec. 17, 1933) at the age of 54, the victim of a year's illness. Formerly superintendent of the Harbison-Walker Refractories Company at Farrandsville. Mr. Morgret was prominent in the political and civic activities of Colebrook Township and also had a wide reputation as a sportsman.

Funeral Wednesday

In failing health for some time, Mr. Morgret underwent an operation in Philadelphia eight months ago, but his condition had grown incresingly worse. He died at his home in Farrandsville.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Evangelical Church, Lock Haven, in charge of the Rev. H. W. Heisley. Burial will be made in Dunnstown.
Mr. Morgret, who was born at Needmore, Pa., August 18, 1879, came to Farrandsville in 1917 as superintendent of the refractories. He had been with the Harbison-Walker plant at Orviston for a number of years. After the Farrandsville plant discontinued operations, in 1925, he became a foreman with the state highway department, and held that post continuously from then on.
Mr. Morgret had held various township offices and was a school director at the time of his death. He was active in promoting the interests of sportsmen, assisted in restocking the streams for anglers and was known as one of the outstanding hunters in the state.

Eight Sons and Daughters

In addition to his widow, Mr. Morgret is survived by his mother, Mrs. Susan Hebner of Baltimore, and the following sons and daughters; Raymond, George, Charles, Harry, Doyle and Theodore and Misses Rachel and Elvirta Morgret, all at home, and Mrs. Russell Toner of Beech Creek. Two brothers, Dayton Morgret of Clearfield and Alfred of Littlestown, and two sisters, Mrs. Mae Buoy of Erie and Mrs. S. H. Hill of Dundalk, Md., also survive.

(He was called "Bert" and was a son of William and Susan (Holly) Morgret. He married Blanche Taylor on Dec. 23, 1902, Clearfield, Pa. by Rev. C. A. Biddle)
