Towers Remaining from the Old Dierdorf City Walls

The round tower above was part of the city battlements in 1357.  The battlements and gateway were demolished in the 19th century, but this tower remained.  It survived the March 25, 1945, bombing of the city when everything around it was in ruins.

The tower at right is apparently also from the old city walls but has been reconstructed.  Rege is standing in the foreground.
