The Evangelical (Protestant) Church in Dierdorf

The present Dierdorf Evangelical/Protestant church was built in 1903/04 out of stone from the Dierdorf fortress demolished in 1902.  The old church, St. Jakobus, was erected in 1200. It was under Count Johann IV of Wied that the congregation "reformed".

Although its appearance blends with the church, the bell tower is an older construction.  It contains three bells:  the Prayer Bell (1463), the Reconciliation Bell (1894), and the Awakening Bell (1960). Several old tombstones are incorporated into the outside walls of the church.
