Our Wilson family were crofters in Auchencrieve, which is a hamlet consisting of a few holdings in the parish of Methlick, in Aberdeenshire. There will be many different opinions on the correct spelling of Auchencrieve, we have plumped for this one, and if it is wrong, it is at least consistently wrong.

John and I visited Auchencrieve in the summer of 2006 and heard of a dwelling called "Wilson's Croft" in the vicinity, unfortunately we didn't have time to find it; apparently it is being renovated so it would bear little resemblance to the original dwelling.
