In the name of God Amen. I Susan Gatling of the county and State aforesaid being mindful of the Mortality of my body and that it is appointed of all flesh to die. Being of diseased & infirm body but of sound mind and disposing memory do ordain and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and following. Viz.

Item 1st. My will and desire is that all my estates of Every kind be sold by my Executor herein after named and vested in good bond or bonds to be applied according to the following directions.

Item 2nd. My will and desire is that one fourth of the proceeds arising from the sales of my property be equally divided between the five children of John P. Harrell, Dec'd. Viz. Edwin Decator Harrell, James Washington Harrell, Anne Rebecca Harrell, Joseph Newton(?) Harrell, Mary John Harrell. To them and their heirs forever.

Item 3rd. My will and desire is that one fourth of the proceeds arrising from the sales of my property be divided equally between William Jethro Gatling, Newelet(?) Bold** Gatling, Joseph Darden Gatling. To them and their heirs forever.

Item 4th. My will and desire is that one fourth part of the proceeds of the sales of my estate be vested in good bond or bonds and annual Interest arrising therefrom be paid unto my Brother Matthias Gatling as long as he lives and at his death I give said bond or bonds to his children & their heirs forever to be Equally divided among them.

5th. My will and desire is that the Remaining fourth part of the proceeds of the sales of my estate to my Brother Henry Gatling his heirs and assigns forever.

Item 6th. I nominate and appoint my Brother Henry Gatling Executor to this will & Testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 28th day of March 1860.

A paper writing purporting to be the last will & testaments of Susan Gatling dec'd is exhibited for probate in open court by Henry Gatling the Executor therein named *** *** executor thereof by the said Susan Gatling. Proved by the oath and ********** of Nathan Blanchard & Moses N. Lassiter the two subscribing witnesses thereto. It is therefore consider of the court that the said paper writing and every ***** thereof ***** last will & testament of the said Susan Gatling. And the same is ordered recorded & filed. And thereupon the said Henry Gatling Executor as aforesaid was qualified as such ******** his bond in the sum of twenty thousand dollars with Edmund Jacobs & W. (?) C**** as Sureties ** taking the oath prescribed by law.
