In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Gatling of Northampton County and
State of
North Carolina being at present Very sick and weak of Body, But
of perfect
sound mind and memory. Thanks be to God. Therefore but Calling to
mind the
mortality of my Body Do Constitute and Ordain this my Last will
and
Testament in manner and Form following. That is to say first and
principally
I commit my soul Into the hand of God hoping to have free and Full
pardon of
all my sins through the suffering of my Blessed Saviour and to Inherit
Everlasting Life. As for my body I Commit it to the ground from
whence it was
taken. To be Buried in a Christian Like Decent manner at the Direction
of my
Executors hereafter named and as touching all such temporal Estates
as It
hath pleased Almighty God to Bestow upon me, I give and Dispose
thereof as
Followeth.
First I would that all my Actual Debts be paid and Discharged.
Item. I Give and bequeath to Sumner Tadlock one Cow and Calf.
Item. I give and bequeath to my Cozen James Gatling, the son of Edward
Gatling, one chest, one Deep Dish, one bason, & one deep Plate
& one flat
plate.
Item. I Give and bequeath to my Cozen Anne Gatling, the daughter
of John
Gatling, one Woolen Wheel, one pair of Cotten cards.
Item. I give and bequeath to my Cozen Sarah Gatling, the Daughter
of Edward
Gatling, one Linen Wheel.
Item. I Give and bequeath to my sister Charity Brit one small bed
and
Trundle Bed stead & Two blankets & Two sheets.
Item. I Give and bequeath to my Cozen Edward Gatling, the son of
William
Gatling five shillings spearcy(?).
Item. I Give the Residue and Remainder of my Estate within and without
Doors
to my Cozen James Gatling, the son of William Gatling.
And I Do nominate and appoint my Joseph Johnson & Elisha Pierse
my Whole
and sole Executors of this my Last will and Testament. Revoking,
Disanuling
and making Void all Other wills heretofore made by me. In Witness
whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal this Third Day of September 1782
