The following is a transcript of Nathan Marion Gatlin's Will (my gg grandfather):
Nathan Gatlin, dec'd Will Recorded January 1, 1856
In the name of God amen, I Nathan Gatlin of the State of Tennessee, County of Davidson, being weak of body with perfect sound mind and memory calling unto mind the mentality of my body do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.
First of all I want all my personal debts paid and after that and funeral expenses paid. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Obedience Gatlin the whole of my estate both real and personal except one buggy which I bought of Felix R. Gower for eight dollars and that it go to my daughter Nancy L. Gower for her special benefit and for her to dispose of as she sees proper. Also there is notes to the amount of near two hundred dollar in the hands of Andrew L. Gatlin against Felix G. Gatlin which I desire to be collected and paid over to my beloved wife Obedience Gatlin.
Last of all I nominate and appoint Lorenzo D. Gower Executor of this my last Will and Testamnet. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this February 18, 1855.
