In the name of God Amen.

I Mary Gatling of the County of Gates and State of North Carolina, being weak in Body but of perfect mind & memory, blessed be God, doth ordain & make This my last will & testament in manner as follows.

First: I give & bequeath To my loving son William Gatling my Negro Man Jack, my Bay Mare & coalts, one half of my crop Corn, Cattle, Sheep, & Hoggs. Also my Brandy **ite(?), one Side Board & glass ware Thereon, one clock & to be his exclusive Share of my Estate.

Secondly: I give to my loving Sister Ann Gatling one Negro Girl named Morning(?). To her & her Heirs for ever. I give my loving son John Gatling five shillings to him & his heirs forever.

Thirdly: All the residue of my Estate of what ever nature or kind to be equally divided between my following named children: Riddick Gatling, Martha Sumner & Ann Riddick. To them & Their Heirs forever.

Fourthly: It is my desire That my Son Riddick Gatling should act as Executor To this my last will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affix my seal this 10th day of November in The year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & twenty five.

The last will and Testament of Mary Gatling dec'd was exhibited into Court by Riddick Gatling, the executor therein appointed and was proved by the Oath of Jesse Lee, the subscribing witness thereto and Ordered to be recorded. At the same time the said executor was qualified for that Office.
