In the name of God Amen I Jesse S. Gatlin of the County of Hopkins & State of Kentuck being Sick and weak in body but of Sound mind and disposing memory (for which I thank God) and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such worthy estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath the same in manner following  towit

First I give to my son Ephraim R Gatlin one hundred and fifty dollars in cash as his entire portion of all my Estate to be paid to him when my estate is settled up.

Second,I give to my daughter Amanda M. Gatlin one Sorrel mare and Saddle at one hundred dollars.One bed & furniture & mattress(?) at twenty dollars

Third,I give to my daughter Rebecca Good(?)(late Gatlin) One horse & Saddle to be worth one hundred dollars one bed and furniture at twenty dollars.

Fourth, I give to my son Lewis W. Gatlin one Brown horse & saddle to be worth one hundred dollars & one bed & furniture at twenty dollars.

Fifth,I give to my son Martin V. Gatlin one bed an furniture to be worth twenty dollars also one hundred dollars in cash to be equal to the horse & saddles given the others.

Sixth,I give to my daughter Mary Jane Gatlin one bed an furniture to be worth twenty dollars & also one hundred dollars in cash to be equal to the horse & saddles given the others.

Seventh,I wish all the rest of my personally property to be sold & equally divided between my five last named children,also my land to be equally divided between them and as three of them is under twenty one years of age if either of them dyes without heirs or will my estate is to be divided equal between the others of the last named
children also if Ephraim R. Gatlin dyes before he receives his _____ it is to be divided between the other children.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend Peter _____ executor of this my last will an testament.

In Witness whereof  I have herewith Set my hand  and affixed my seal This 22nd day of March in the year 1855.

Note:  Jesse S. Gatlin is the son of Jesse Gatlin and Polly Prescott. Jesse died of dysentry.March 22nd,1855 was when his will was written.  He died after that. Jesse is mentioned in the will of Thomas Hanks in Hopkins Co.,Ky.

According to David Walter Gatlin Jesse's Will was dated March 23, 1855 and probated April 9, 1855.
