     Clifford Akers was born on 17 July 1906 at Banner, Floyd County, Kentucky. He was the son of Noah Akers and Savannah F. Sturgill. He was born July 17, 1906, in Banner, the son of the late Noah Akers and Vaney Sturgill Akers. He was self-employed as a brickmason and a member of the Mason Union in Ashland. His wife, Ann Akers, preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Keith Akers of Allen; one daughter, Novania Wright of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Homer Akers of Banner, Earl Akers of Albany, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 19, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral, Home Chapcal in Martin, with the clergyman Mark Tackett officiating. Burial will be in the Hall Cemetery at Banner. He was buried at Hall Cemetery, Prater Creek, Floyd County, Kentucky.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific, during World War II, and was awarded a purple heart. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie. Other survivors include one son, Joe Click of Nebraska; and a daughter, Mary Ann Chamberlin of Lehigh Acres, Florida; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Elmongrove Cemetery in St. Mary's Ohio. (FCT"s).

A well known and highly esteemed citizen of Indian Creek township, Mills county, Iowa, is Louis D. McMullin, the subject of this review. He was born in 1830, in Ohio, but was reared in that part of Virginia now known as West Virginia, having been taken there a child of seven years. He was a son of James and Mary (Vears) McMullin, the latter a daughter of Elisha Vears, of German ancestry, but a native of Pennsylvania. Her birth was in Ohio and she died in Illinois. The paternal grandfather was a native of Ireland who immigrated to this country and became a soldier in the Revolutionary war, dying in that service. James McMullin was born in Ohio, but his death took place in West Virginia. The members of the family of Mr. and Mrs. McMullin were: William; Minerva J., deceased; Mrs. Diantha Wagoner, living in California; James, who died in Ottumwa, Iowa; and our subject

In 1852 our subject left West Virginia with his mother and located in Henderson county, Illinois, where he engaged in farming and was a brick-mason and contractor from his twenty-second year until about six years ago, putting up many of the best brick buildings in this part of Iowa. He and his partner built the first business house in Red Oak. He was a good workman, having learned the trade in West Virginia, but farming seemed to be a more secure way of existence and this business he adopted as his life work when he came to Mills county in 1866. He had seen a year's service in the army, having enlisted in Company G, Thirtieth Illinois Infantry, under Colonel Shedd, early in 1864, and this regiment was ordered to Nashville, where it was destined to be connected with some of the severest fighting of the year. Mr. McMullin took part in the destruction of Atlanta and all of the fighting in that vicinity, enduring many privations and bravely doing his duty to his country. He was mustered out in Springfield, in July, 1865, and the next year came to his present home in the great state of Iowa.

Mr. McMullin has been very successful in his farming and now owns one hundred and twenty acres of some of the most productive land in Mills county. His improvements rank well with those of his neighbors and his residence offers every comfort of life to his interesting family.

The marriage of our subject was to Miss Mary Catherine Davis, a daughter of James R. and Hannah (McCullough) Davis, of Scotch and Dutch ancestry. The children of this marriage are: Frank E., James William, Harry C., deceased, Edwin S., Mrs. Clara E. Pratt, Mrs. Mary J. Ruby, Mrs. Euphie H. Salmons, Mrs. Myrtle L. Silkett, Fannie A. and Mrs. Eldra Floy Young. the family life of Mr. and Mrs. McMullin is a most pleasant one and all are connected with the Cumberland Presbyterian church where they are much esteemed.

In politics Mr. McMullin is a Republican, although he does not like any departure from the old principles of the party. In the township he has been called upon to serve as school director for many years. His connection with the Masonic order dates back fifty years, making him one of the oldest members in the county. The family is one of the most highly regarded in this section, and Mr. McMullin is justly considered a representative man in Indian Creek township. He married Mary Catherine Davis, daughter of James R. Davis and Hannah McCullough. Lewis D. McMullen was born in 1830 at Ohio. He was the son of James McMullen and Mary Vears.

     Mary Vears was born at Ohio. She was the daughter of Elisha Vears. Her married name was McMullen. Mary Vears married James McMullen. Mary Vears died at Illinois.

     Holton Muncy was born in 1805. He was the son of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins.

     James Muncy was born on 29 December 1807. He was the son of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins.

     Jacob Muncy was born in 1809. He was the son of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins.

     Polly Muncy was born in 1813. She was the daughter of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins.

     Sarah Muncy was born in 1815. She was the daughter of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins.

     William Muncy was born in 1817. He was the son of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins.

     Samuel Kendley Muncy was born on 21 March 1827. He was the son of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins.

     David Wade Muncy was born on 16 September 1829 at Virginia. He was the son of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins. David Wade Muncy married Jemima Muncy in August 1849. David Wade Muncy appeared on the census of 24 August 1850 at Lawrence County, Kentucky, listed as David W. age 20 head of house.

     Jemima Muncy was born in 1825 at Virginia. She married David Wade Muncy, son of Tunis Muncy and Rhoda Simpkins, in August 1849. Jemima Muncy appeared on the census of 24 August 1850 at Lawrence County, Kentucky, listed as Gemima age 25 living in home of husband.

      Gustavis Muncy also went by the name of Gus. He was born on 21 September 1854. He was the son of David Wade Muncy and Jemima Muncy. Gustavis Muncy married Sophia Eleanor Layne on 10 August 1893. Gustavis Muncy died on 15 November 1917 at age 63.

     Sophia Eleanor Layne was born on 19 November 1871. As of 10 August 1893,her married name was Muncy. She married Gustavis Muncy, son of David Wade Muncy and Jemima Muncy, on 10 August 1893. Sophia Eleanor Layne died on 3 August 1964 at age 92.

     William Baskett was born in 1715. He was the son of Thomas Baskett and Elizabeth ? William Baskett married Ruth ?

     Thomas Baskett was born on 6 April 1682. He was the son of John Baskett and Elizabeth ? Thomas Baskett married Elizabeth ? Thomas Baskett died in 1724.

     John Jones was born in 1807. He was the son of Thomas Jones and Betty Johnson.

     Larkin Kerley was born in 1790. He was the son of Larkin Kerley and Sarah Walker. Larkin Kerley married Susannah Morris on 14 November 1809 at Wilkes County, North Carolina.

     Daniel W. Kerley was born on 23 June 1796. He was the son of Larkin Kerley and Sarah Walker. Daniel W. Kerley married Hannah Barnes. Daniel W. Kerley died on 9 May 1884 at age 87.

     Bird Kerley was born in 1810. He was the son of Larkin Kerley and Sarah Walker. Bird Kerley married Martha Drucilla Smith.

     Elijah Kerley was born on 20 September 1814. He was the son of Larkin Kerley and Sarah Walker. Elijah Kerley married Mary Curtis on 31 March 1842.

     Elisha R. Kerley was born on 20 September 1814. He was the son of Larkin Kerley and Sarah Walker. Elisha R. Kerley never married. He lived with his twin brother Elijah all his life.
