Burial: Inscription on Tombstone: 'In memory of Samuel Hutchinson, who died Feb. 8, 1809, in his 91st. year. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.' (Hutchinson & Streeter, p. 11)
Surname: Recorded as 'Hutchison' in Windham VRs, p. 1:13.
In company with his sons, John and Samuel, he removed to Norwich, Vt. in 1765 where they made a permanent settlement on the Connecticut River. (_History of Norwich_, by Goddard and Partridge, Dartmouth Press, 1905, pp. 25-26; Hutchinson & Streeter, p. 11)
In company with his son, John, he came to Norwich in 1765. They cleared an island in the Connecticut River, opposite the present [1905] residence of John W. Loveland, and planted it with corn. In the fall of that year they returned to Connecticut, and in company with a younger son, Samuel, returned in the spring of 1766, and made a permanent settlement. The elder Samuel spent the remainder of his life in the town, and died there. (Goddard & Partridge, p. 214)
