[As of 1888] he lives on the homestead, to which he has made large
additions, and which he has improved by under-draining and by clearing
the plough-fields of rocks. The buildings now on the farm have all been
built since it came into his possession. On Jan. 2, 1852, he was chosen a
deacon of the Congregational society; has held military offices in the
rank of captain, and has been selectman for two years. (Livermore &
