Surname: Recorded as 'KEENE' in Derby, p. 28.

He moved from Pembroke, MA and took up land in Hebron, then known as
Shepardsfield, ME. According to the Annals of Oxford, Oxford Co, ME,
Joshua Keen as a lieutenant in Capt. Ford's Pembroke Company in 1776 in
the American Revolutionary War, and it goes on to say that Sprage Keen,
whose name also appears in the army rolls of 1779, was most likely his
son, ae 20y, light complexion, 5'7" in stature." However, there is no
mention of a son Sprague in the record of Joshua Keen's children, and we
are inclined to think that Sprague might have been a cousin, since Joshua
Keen's uncle, Samuel Keen married a Ruth Sprague. (Elizabeth Keene
