Elmer L. Dorman was born in 1919 in Clark Co., IN to James Harvey Dorman and Margaret M. Wolford.  He was one of 9 children and joined the military to serve his country.  During WWII he was assigned to France.  During the invasion of France he was killed.  His remains were never sent home, however his mother did receive his blood soaked personal effects.  Family stories say she buried his personal belongings in a garden where she worked.  She never told anyone what she did with them and took that secret to her grave.
