Aubrey Harold Hartley was born to Clarence and Heddie Lee Hartley in 1932. His sister, Mae Belle and he were left very young and motherless by Heddie's death at a young age.

Aubrey married Mary Davidson, daughter of Cader Noel and Mary Elizabeth(Lizzie) Smalls Davidson. They moved to South Carolina where Aubrey pastored two different Baptist churches after returning as a MSgt from the Armed Services.

He worked out a retirement with his salesman job in S.C. and on Mar .25, 1983 they returned "Home" to the Westover Garden area where he pastored Garden Baptist Church until his death on April 19, 1998.

Hartley went to work with an insurance firm in Andalusia as a salesman . He returned a lot of his salary into his work with the Church. He and his wife, Mary invited such friends as the Sullivan Family singers to the huge and popular First Saturday night singing each month..The church flourished and membership grew.

Aubrey Hartley was grandson of Steven and Lenora Stanley Hartley and great grandson of Civil War soldier, William (Bill) Hartley and his wife, Nancy Lee.
Aubrey and Mary Hartley had a son named Eddie Noel Hartley and a daughter named Debra Jean (Hartley) Kidd.

Most remembered Aubrey as having a rich clear voice and he was much beloved for the reading of "If I Go First" at most of the monthly singings with a band backing him up with beautiful gospel music.

His wife, Mary is carrying on as much of his work with the Church as possible. She is just as needed and well loved by the membership.

Goodbye Aubrey, Husband, father, Pastor, brother and Friend. We have no doubts Heaven will be home if we follow you.
