Flickinger & Flückiger Family Research:
Switzerland
back
My Flickinger
&
Flückiger research
is based on the migrating
families
discussed in depth in
Robert E. Flickinger's 1927 book.
Modern connections made through on-line
research,
as well as trips,
are allowing researchers to follow the paths of their
ancestors.
We need access to the parish and town records for more towns and cantons of
Switzerland to find family names, birth and marriage records for various
regions.
Here is a list of communities that have records of
citizenship for Flückigers
during the 18th century:
Lauperswil (no record of 1753 immigrant Peter
Flickinger)
Lützelflüh (Peter born 26 Sept 1728, parents Niclaus F
& Anna Rauch)
(grandparents: Hans Jacob F & Christina Muster)
Attiswil (20 miles S of Basel,
parish Oberbipp 4538, district Wangen, Berne)
Auswil & Rohrbach (3 miles NW of Huttwil, no
Peter F born circa 1730)
Biglen (SW of Lützelflüh)
Gondiswil (NE of Auswil)
Rohrbach
Rüegsau (3 miles W of Sumiswald)
Wynigen (8 miles W of Huttwil)
Affoltern im Emmental (6 miles SW of Huttwil)
Sumiswald
DNA studies of male descendants are helping to show
which Flickinger
and Flückiger families
are closely related biologically, which gives even
more knowledge about who is
related.
An exciting breakthrough this past year, is the information that 1733
immigrant
Ulrich Flickinger,
who came to Bucks Co, PA (Northampton Co/ Lehigh Co)
is closely related to 1753
immigrant
Peter Flickinger. They are most likely
uncle and nephew, coming from the
Lützelflüh area
(Sumiswald) of
Canton Bern, Switzerland. This needs to be verified.
Please send me a link to your site for Swiss Flückiger
families and I will add the
link to
this page to enable further information sharing.
THANK you so much, researcher Robert Rothenbuhler for the following
data!
Below: copy of LDS parish record for immigrant Ulrich
Flückiger.

And here is a possible match for 1753 immigrant, Peter Flickinger:

According to the 1927 Robert E.
Flickinger family history book (page 609), and
supported by descendant researchers of Andreas Flickinger, he was also
from Lützelflüh. LDS parish records list Andreas' parents as:
Hans Flückiger & Lucia Reinhardt, married 12 Sept. 1700 in Sumiswald.
