HOUCK HISTORY
The Houcks are presumed to be of German origin. The original families using the German spelling of the name Houk. Our branch of the family came to America from England, and somewhere along the way a "c" was added and succeeding generations have continued to spell their name Houck. Our early pioneers came to Pennsylvania from Virginia, settling in Trough Creek Valley, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
Elijah Houck married Delia Corbin of the pioneer family of Corbins who settled near Fort Shirley. According to tradition the Corbins are of French origin, the name formerly being spelled Corbon. They were Huguenot refugees who fled from France to England, Holland, Switzerland and Protestant Germany.
