This page has been included in the site structure for two reasons. Firstly, as a result of the large number of invalid email submissions periodically removed from the main search pages, I felt that Renfrewshire researchers had no medium in which to try to make contact with another researcher if their posted email link was no longer active.

Secondly, owing to the transient nature of email addresses, it is often the case that research contacts are lost with the passing of time.   I felt that this page would be a useful tool for Renfrewshire researchers to identify those lost contacts with a view to re-establishing them.

I am hoping there is someone who can help me find information about Margaret Miller. I think she was born in Neilston about 1853. Her father's name was John Miller and he was a printer. I am not sure when she moved to England but she married Joseph Taylor in Middlesex in 1873 age 20. I have found this information from the 1881 Census and her marriage certificate. I do not know if the whole family moved to England but I would appreciate any information. I have been unable to find her date of death. Margaret Miller/Taylor was my great grandmother. Thank you. My ggrandmother's tombstone says she was born in Paisley Scotland july 13, 1823. Her name was Margaret Russell. She had brothers named Archibald and William. Margaret and her family moved to Canada and later to the US. I would like to communicate with anyone who has information to share. Thank you. (1655)

Can you help, James Tait, b. 1840, m Catherine McPherson in Greenock 1862. Marriage certificate shows parents as John Tait and Ann Rodger. However the only birth I can find for James Tait is to Robert Tait and Elizabeth Rodger (? two brothers marrying sisters). Catherine's parents are shown as John McPherson and Margaret McIntyre, but the only ones I can find would be too old to have given birth to Catherine. I've wondered about adoption. any info would be appreciated. James and Catherine are my gggrandparents (1659)

I would like to trace anyone who is a descendant of Matthew Beattie (died 1910). He lived at High Street, Renfrew. He had 8 children - James, Mary, Jeanie, Sarah (married McBride), Matthew, Lizzie, Agnes and Maggie. I am his great, great, granddaughter and would dearly love to trace my relatives. Sarah had two children that I know of - James & Matthew, born between 1900 and 1908. I am Elaine and the last of our line of the family.   Matthew's eldest son, James, left Renfrew to live in Sunderland. He was my great grandfather.

I am trying to find details of Frederick Pollard, father of Francis Pollard born 12March 1927 (my father's cousin). Frederick worked at the Alexandria Hospital in Rhyl, North Wales as an engineer. His address on Francis's birth certificate, dated 21 April 1927, was 14 Dunn Street Paisley. Francis's mother was Edith Stuart b 1898. Although she referred to herself as Pollard they may not have been married

Jean ALLAN (1634), b 1811, Thorniebank, married Matt COUBROUGH in 1831, in Thornliebank. Matt was a colour printer in the printworks there

They had 10 children all born in Renfrewshire:

Robert b 1832, m 1854 Agnes Morton in Thornliebank

Jane b 1834, m 1865 John Campbell in Pollokshaws, d abt 1905

Except for the two who died as young children,Jim (James) was the only one of the children who did not work in the printworks: He joined the British Army before 1850, which is how he got to Canada

I would dearly love to know who Jean Allan's parents were. Judging by the names of her first daughter and second son, I suppose they should have been Janea and Robert Allan, but I have not been able to find any such couple. The parish register is very brief and uninformative. If anyone can help I would be very pleased. They may subsequently have moved to Glasgow, but I can't find them in any census. Searching for information on James Giffin born Ayrshire c 1813 who married Janet about 1833 (she was from Lochwinnoch Renfrewshire born c 1813). Their children were all born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Robert c 1833, Margaret c 1836, Colin c 11839, James c 1842, Jessie c 1844, Elizabeth c 1847. They travelled to Liverpool at some stage and emigrated to Australia on the Beejapore in 1853. James Giffin is my husband's ggg grandfather and I am trying to find further relatives (1647)
