WILLIAM SHARP born about 1788 in Neilston, Renfrewshire Scotland, was my great great great grandfather. The Old Parish Registers of Neilston and Middle Church Paisley record his marriage on 17 July 1813, to SARAH MAXWELL, daughter of JAMES MAXWELL and AGNES POLLOCK, who married in Neilston in 1779. William and Sarah's children were:
JANET born 16 July 1815,
WILLIAM born 3 August 1817, Neilston,
JAMES MAXWELL, born 5 September 1819, in Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire,
AGNES born 12 May 1822.
James Maxwell Sharp was my great great grandfather. He married MARY SMITH. They lived at West Arthurlie in Barrhead, and he was a mill manager. I have information on two of their children, JAMES MAXWELL SHARP(junior), married to JESSIE MCKAY, and JOHN SHARP who married ELLEN EWING of Alexandria.
