   DAVIDSON

          Everett LaFollette - elafollette@tctwest.net (9 Aug 02)

( Please note this email address is no longer active - 28 Sept 02)

My ancestor, William Davidson, was born in Hurlet, Renfrew, 1823.  His father's name was William also.  His father married Agnes McFarlin from Luss, Dumbarton.  The father William died in 1855 in Coatbridge, Lanark, Scotland.  The son William went to the United States in 1848.  He had many brothers and sisters whom, we assume, remained in Scotland.  We would like to contact their descendants.  Some of the brothers and sisters were Thomas, Mary, George, James, Margaret and others. Most were born in Renfrew and Lanark.  The parents were coalminers.  They worked at the Summerlee Coal Pitt in about 1840.

   DUNCAN

          Chris O'Sullivan - raccos@hotmail.com ( 15 Jan 02)

This Duncan family has its origins in Rothesay, Bute.  Charles Duncan married Jane Brown Spence in 1879 in Rothesay (both were born there).  Charles was a slater by profession and sought employment in Paisley prior to his marriage.  This was a profession also held by several members of Jane Spence's family.

Their first three children - Jane (1879-1880), Charles (1888-1882) and Annie (1883-1884) were born Rothesay, though by 1886 the family had moved to Paisley where they remained.  Further children Maggie (1886), Isabel (1889) and Rebecca (1890) were subsequently born there.

At this stage additional information is only known about Isabel.  She married William Goudie 1909-1910, emigrating to Queensland on the 'SS Norseman' in August 1910.  By 1912 they had moved further south to Sydney, NSW where Isabella died in 1917.  Their two children were William and Duncan.
