     George M. Whitlock was born on 7 November 1834 in Ithaca, Tompkins, in New York.1 He was the son of Jesse Whitlock and Mary M. Pew.1
     George M. Whitlock was probably included as a white male, age five to nine, in Jesse Whitlock's household on the 1840 Census enumerated in Ithaca, Tompkins, New York.2
     George M. Whitlock appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Genoa, Cayuga, New York in the household of his parents, Jesse Whitlock and Mary M. Whitlock.3
     On 19 January 1856, George M. Whitlock married Harriett Newall Morse in Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York.1
