     James Whitlock was probably included as a white male, age five to nine, in Thomas Whitlock's household on the 1840 Census enumerated in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York;
Missing from the census are children: John 2 years (did he die young?), Freeman 19 years (did he die young or is he living on his own? I have not been able to find Freeman in any census), Arminda 17 years (is she married or died young?).4
     James Whitlock appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Rice, Cattaraugus, New York in the household of his parents, Thomas Whitlock and Jane Whitlock.1

     James Whitlock and Ann E. Whitlock appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Concord, Erie, New York, enumerated 13 July 1870. Their children Thomas, William, Frank, Grace and Charles were listed as living with them.8
     James Whitlock and Ann E. Whitlock appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Ponca, Dixon, Nebraska, enumerated 1 June 1880. Their children William, Frank, Grace and Charles were listed as living with them.9
     James Whitlock died between 1880 and 1910. Based on the 1910 Census, Anna Eliza is listed as a Widow in her son Frank's household.10

     On 2 August 1859, Jane Whitlock married Ferdinand Conrad, son of Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Hawley. They were married at Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York.9,5,10
     Jane Conrad and Ferdinand Conrad appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Olean, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated 2 July 1860, reporting Ferdinand as a farmer. Their son John Collins was listed as living with them.11
     Jane Conrad and Ferdinand Conrad appeared on the 1865 State Census of Riceland, Freeborn, Minnesota, enumerated 1865. Their children Jennie, Charles M and Mary Fleura were listed as living with them.12
     Jane Conrad and Ferdinand Conrad appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of in Ponca, Dixon County, Nebraska, enumerated 16 July 1870. Their children Mary Fleura, Charles M, Jennie and William Penn were listed as living with them, living near is Ferdinand's brother Benjamin Conrad.13
     Jane Whitlock and Ferdinand Conrad appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Ponca, Dixon, Nebraska, enumerated 3 June 1880, reporting Ferdinand as a farmer. Their children Charles M, Jennie, William Penn, Minnie Belle, Albert B and Estella were listed as living with them.14 Jane Whitlock attended the Methodist Church in Ponca, Dixon, Nebraska.5
     Jane Conrad and Ferdinand Conrad appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Ponca, Dixon, Nebraska, at 137 12th Street, enumerated 15 June 1900, reporting them living next door to their son Albert's family..15 In the obituary of Ferdinand Conrad dated 23 March 1905 which printed in the Northern Nebraska Journal, circulated in Ponca, Dixon County, Nebraska, Jane Conrad was mentioned as his wife; as his surviving children.10
     Jane Conrad appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Ponca City, Dixon, Nebraska, at Bluff Street, enumerated 22 April 1910. Her daughter Estella was listed as living with her, as well as Estella's husband, William H. Richards and their daughter. [Rf:other]16
     Jane Conrad died of apoplexy, at the age of 74, on 10 November 1915 Ponca, Dixon, Nebraska.1,4,5,7
     Jane was buried on Friday, 12 November 1915 in the Ponca Cemetery, located in Ponca, Dixon County, Nebraska , next to her husband.1,4,7,5
Jane's obituary states:

Jane Whitlock, born Jan 30 1841, in Ischua, Cattaraugus county, New York, died at her home in Ponca, Nebraska, aged 73 years, 9 months, and 10 days. She was married to Ferdinand Conrad at Olean, N. Y., August 4th 1859. She lived there four years then moved to Freeborn county, Minnesota, Oct 1863. Removed from Minnesota June 1869 to Ponca Nebr and has been a resident of this town until she departed for her heavenly home.
Thirty three years ago she joined the Methodist Episcopal church and has ever been a faithful Christian, trusting all to Him "who knoweth best." She was a kind, loving mother, a good neighbor and friend. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her large circle of friends. She leaves seven children to mourn her loss, four girls and three boys: Mrs. Fred Wilbur, Mrs. Dud Doan, Will Conrad and Bert Conrad of Ponca, Mrs. Will Cornell of Canada, Mrs Will Richards of Ellensburg, Wash, and Charley Conrad of Elk Point, South Dakota
The funeral was held in the Presbyterian church in Ponca on Friday November 12. The sermon being preached by Rev. A. H. Eggleston. The music which wa exceptionally good was rendered by the Methodist Episcopal church choir. The interment took place in Ponca. The pall-bearers were all grandsons of the deceased. Their ages ranging from 18 to 23 years.17


     Jane's obituary was printed in the Nebraska Journal Leader, circulated in Ponca, Dixon County, Nebraska, on 18 November 1915. Reporting Charles M Conrad, Jennie Conrad, Minnie Belle Conrad, Albert B "Bert" Conrad and Mary Fleura "Mamie" Conrad as survivors.17
