     Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Murphy was born on 11 July 1877 in Monmouth, Polk, Oregon.3,4,5 She was the daughter of Preston Holcombe Murphy and Sarah A. Bond.2,3
     Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Murphy appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Springfield, Lane, Oregon, in the household of Preston Holcombe Murphy and Sarah A. Murphy.2
     On 19 January 1898, Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Murphy married Willis Monroe Dugger, son of John W Dugger and Catherine Malinda Bean, , Polk County, Oregon, They were married at the home of Lizzie's Father, Preston H Murphy...6,5
     Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Murphy and Willis Monroe Dugger appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Independence, Polk, Oregon, enumerated 5 June 1900, reporting Willis's occupation as a tile ditcher. Their daughter Elvera was listed as living with them.7
     Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Dugger and Willis Monroe Dugger appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Independence, Polk, Oregon, on "4" Street, enumerated 6 June 1910, reporting Willis's occupation as a farmer and renting the home.. Their children Elvera, Glen Monroe, Areta, Thelma Velma and Cecil Willard were listed as living with them.8
     Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Dugger and Willis Monroe Dugger appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Croisan Precint, Marion, Oregon, enumerated 6 January 1920, reporting Willis's occupation as a Grain Farmer. Their children Elvera, Glen Monroe, Areta, Thelma Velma, Cecil Willard, Otto Francis, Roscoe Wallace and Preston H. were listed as living with them.9
     Upon Willis's death on 19 January 1925, Elizabeth became a widow living in Monmouth, Polk, Oregon. Elizabeth was the informant on the death certificate.1,10,5
     Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Dugger appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Spray Precinct, Wheeler, Oregon, enumerated 26 April 1930, as a housekeeper in Bruce Enyard's household. Her children Otto Francis, Roscoe Wallace and Preston H. were listed as living with her.11
     Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Murphy appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Salem, Marion, Oregon, at 2013 N. Front, enumerated 16 April 1940, reporting her as a widow.12
     On 29 June 1949, Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Murphy was living at 1970 Water Street, in Salem, Marion, Oregon, when she died at the age of 71. The information on the death certificate being supplied by Elvera Beard.3,13,5
     Before 2 July 1949, Elizabeth's obituary was printed in the Statesman, circulated in Salem, Marion County, Oregon. Glen Monroe Dugger, Thelma Velma Crum, Cecil Willard Dugger, Roscoe Wallace Dugger, Otto Francis Dugger, Preston H. Dugger, George W. Murphy, Areta Jones and Elvera Dugger were listed as survivors. Willis Monroe Dugger was listed as her husband.14
Elizabeth's obituary states:
Stroke Fatal for Elizabeth Dugger, Longtime Resident

Mrs. Elizbeth Hattie Dugger, a Salem resident for 15 years, died unexpectedly at her home at 1970 Water St. Wednesday evening at the age of 71 years. Death was caused by a stroke.

She was born a Monmouth July 11, 1877 and married Willis H. Dugger at Independence Jan. 19, 1897. He preceded her in death 25 years ago.

She was a member of Jesus Name Pentacostal church in Salem.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Elvera Beard, Mrs Willard Jones and Mrs Thelma Crum, all of Salem; five sons, Preston Dugger of Salem, Glen and Cecil Dugger both of Portland, Otto Dugger of Oakland California and Roscoe Dugger of Wichita Falls, Texas, a brother, George Murphy of Centralia Wash., 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services will be announced later by the Clough-Barrick Chapel.14


     Elizabeth was buried on Saturday, 2 July 1949 in the I.O.O.F Cemetery (Hill Top Cemetery), located in Independence, Polk County, Oregon .3,15

     Albert Murphy was born circa 1858, Oregon.1 He was the son of John Ecles Murphy and Frances Mary Wright "Franky" Doughty.
