Frances was born to Lewis and Bertha (Graybill) Kerchner. They moved to Elgin, Nebraska, Madrid, Nebraska and to Holyoke where Frances would live until she moved in 1996 to Marysville, Kansas
Frances attended school in Holyoke and went to college in Greeley. After college she taught school for four years. She married William J. Runge on June 30, 1929. Frances and her husband lived on a farm in Holyoke until 1949 when they moved to town. They kept up the farming until Bill passed away in 1962, and Frances kept farming until her move to Kansas in 1996.
Frances was a member of the United Methodist Church of Holyoke since 1933, the American Legion and Royal Neighbors of America, and had been Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Harold and Donald Kerchner; and two sisters, Lillie Lee and Letta Hansen.
She is survived by her niece Lorna Pache, her husband Robert and son Derek Charles; and many other nieces and nephews.
Services were held November 12, 1998 at the Tennant-Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Dennis officiating.2
