     On 17 October 1842, Rev James Bond married Laura Jewett in Jefferson County, Iowa.3 Rev James Bond was on of Oregon Pioneers of 1847. Soon after arriving in Oregon he began to preach in a little Baptist church in Skipanon, Clatsop Co. He organized Sunday schools there and in Astoria; On Feb 18, 1849 he was accidentally shot and killed; was known to have one daughter; others of his family arrived in 1853. in 1847.1
     Rev James Bond died on 18 February 1849 in Clatsop County, Oregon, at the age of 28.1
