     Caleb Mosher was found on the 1748 tax list in Crum Elbow, Dutchess County, New York. Crum Elbow became Charlotte in 1762, and the area where Caleb was living became Washington in 1788.3 He left a will on 8 February 1786 in Charlotte Precinct, Dutchess, New York. Benjamin Church were mentioned in the will.
I 'Caleb Mosher, of Charlotte Precinct...Unto my beloved wife Elizabeth, all my houshold goods, and after her decease.. to my three daughters, Martha Palmer, Abigail Fintch and Elizabeth Reynolds.' Abigail and Elizabeth receive also a cow, each. 'unto my sons, namely Tripp, Philip, Samuel, Esek and Israel Mosher all the farm whereon I now dwell, with the mills, profits, privileges and appurtenances.. forever.' The rest was to be divided, each paying the mother £4 a year, 'or the value therof in gold or silver, during her natural life, in lieu of her dowry' in addition to providing for her' a comfortable room'. Samuel is to pay each of the three daughters £15.
