John lived in Holland with his mother and sister.² He was put into service in the British Military when he was siezed by a British boat crew. John protested that he was not a native of that province, but they would not release him or allow him to say good-bye to his mother hurring him to the vessel. He was brought over to American and served the the British Army until the surrender of Burgoyne.²
