Forward

Forward . . .

“When a society or a civilization perished, one condition can always be found.
They forgot where they came from.”

Carl Sandburg

We begin the search for our forebears by documenting the information in the possession of those of us here today. Then we work backward . . . a generation at a time, which is very much like reading a really interesting novel . . . . only the chapters have been scattered about. It is a lot of fun to discover new things that are somehow familiar. As you look through the information compiled thus far, I think you will agree that while the facts are critical - photos, stories, newspaper articles and copies of old documents are the elements that provide a greater understanding into peoples lives. Having said that, I would like to recognize and thank, those who have been especially helpful by loaning photos, reference materials and likewise researching statistics and helping to locate the information that is presented on the following pages.

Ancestor searching is time consuming, absorbing, frustrating and very rewarding. I have always been fascinated by history and have only come to appreciate the intricacy of family dynamics since beginning my own genealogy research in the Spring of 1995. One of the most rewarding aspects of tracing a family line backward, is that more often than not, you will find a new branch upon which to explore and undoubtedly discover living descendants. The very nature of families, presents an ever broadening canopy in the “family tree”. Note . . . for security reasons . . . no information is posted on this site for "living" persons.

Thanks to today’s computers and associated software, our chronicle continues to evolve as new babies are born and others of us pass away, making our family history a “dynamic” document. Having gathered and organized a considerable amount of the more readily available information, I am now doing a good deal of sleuthing, becoming a “regular” at the Federal Archives, LDS and Public Libraries . . . and of course spending quite a bit of time on the internet. If you’ve ever escavated an old tree, you know the twists and turns that the root system presents as you dig . . and the tenacity that is required to follow a lead, then to change direction without losing heart.

I hope that you find the following pages informative, but please be advised that this site was created for use by family members and genealogy researchers only . . . with NO COMMERCIAL use intended! Every effort is made to make sure that this documentation is as accurate as possible. However, should you find discrepancies (and I’m sure that there are some) please do not hesitate to contact me and corrections will be made.
