THOMAS STAPLETON 100 ACRES RUSSELL CO.,VA JAMES MONROE,Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia to all to whom these presents shall come Greetings. Know ye that by virtue of a and office Treasury Warrant number Ten Thousand eight hundred and seventy two, issued the sixth of February Seventeen hundred and eighty two. There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto THOMAS STAPLETON a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres by survey bearing date the twenty nineth day of April seventeen hundred and ninety nine lying and being in the County of Russell on both side of Thomas Alleys Mile Creek including the head of the same and bounded as followeth: To Wit, Beginning at a white oak and bunch of dogwoods on the East bank of said creek, Thence North thirty five degrees East one hundred and thirty seven poles to a spanish oak on the edge of Glade, North thirty five degrees West eighty six poles to a double poplar on the side of a ridge, South seventy degrees West sixty eight poles to a black oak and poplar on the top of a ridge, South thirty degrees East forty poles to a white oak on the side of a ridge, South seventy eight degrees West ninety two poles to a black oak and poplar in a hollow, thence South forty five degrees East one hundred and fifty poles to the beginning, With its appurtanences to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtanences to the said THOMAS STAPLETON and his heirs forever. In witness thereof the said JAMES MONROE Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath here unto set his hand and caused the Lesser seal of the Commomwealth to be affixed, at Richmond on the ninth day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and one and of the Commonwealth the Twenty Sixth.
