From the memory of Cecil Stapleton:
" Wet Pockets"
When Cecil Stapleton and his youngest brother,Leonard
were young boys, they had to sleep upstairs. The only
toilet facilities they had was an outhouse behind the family
home. Cecil recalls that one cold night he must have been
walking in his sleep when nature called, and not wanting
to wake up his father, he must have gotten out of bed
and used his overalls pocket, instesd of going outside.
Back then, all the boys had to wear to school, was a pair
of bib overalls. Unbeknownst to Cecil, Leonard being
the michievious boy that he was, sneaked out of
bed, so as not to awaken anyone, especially Cecil,
and did his business in the pockets of Cecil's bib
overalls. Grandfather Mason heard the commotion
and hollered upstairs to see what was going on.
Disquising his voice to make it appear that it
was Cecil talking, he told his dad, "It's just me sleep
walking"!. The next morning they were called to go
to school and Cecil didn't come down. When his dad
asked him why, he replied," I can't come down,
my britches are all wet". Leonard just set
there and smiled as though nothing had happened.
It wasn't until many years later when Cecil returned
to live in Ohio near his brothers, that he finally
learned the truth.
