The homestead of William Wallace McKenzie and
Catherine "Katy" Estep, Johnson Co.,Ky,

"William and Catharine apparently spent their
first years in the same house with William's
parents. No later than nine years after their
marriage, they were living near Catharine's parents
in Redbush, Kentucky. They moved to Summerford,
Ohio around 1905 but it only took about six months
for them to get homesick for the hills, so he moved
his family back to the head of Mud Lick, "To the
old log cabin up in the hollow where Taylor Williams
and Uncle Milt Sayers lived. Uncle Jack lived up
the hollow from this place". Quoted Maggie McKenzie
Burchett. She is the only remaining member of William
and Catharine's family left at this time. It was
around 1910 that he bought the property that had
been the home of his father, Hugh McKenzie. This
home and barn were located between the main road
and the cemetery. They remained there the rest of
their lives."
