James Gambill
1887-1956
Funeral services were held Friday, January 13, at
10:30 a.m., at the home at Thelma for James M.
Gambill, 78, well-known resident of this county,
who died Wednesday morning at his home following an
illness of a year.
The son of the late William Henry and Alifair Gambill,
he was born April 23, 1887, at River, Ky. A resident of
Thelma for the past 17 years he was a retired miner and
a member of the Baptist Church.
He was married December 26, 1900, to Rosa Daniel, daughter
of Daniel and Rebecca Stapleton Daniel, who survives.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, William H.
Gambill, Ashland, and Daniel J. Gambill, Thelma, one
brother, John C. Gambill, River, one sister, Mrs. Sallie
Perry, Roanoke, Virginia, and four grandchildren.
Burial will be made in the family cemetery at Thelma
under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
