Baptist Tidings
Vol 2 Paintsville, KY. Jan. 1, 1941 NO. 8
Mother Julia Castle, of Lowmansville, Kentucky. She
was born in Johnson County, Kentucky, the daughter of
the late Jacob and Ellizabeth (Clemins) Castle. The
parentage of this mother in Israel dates back to the early
settlers of this section of Kentucky who were of that school
where men and women were of that real type of pure upright and
moral citizens.
This mother, as all others, cherishes the fact that she has done
her part for the world by being the mother of three sons and one
daughter; sons, Dow Castle of Mingo, who preceded her in death some
three years ago, Buren of Lowmansville, Kentucky, who preceded her
in death some seven years ago. William of Thealka, who survives,
daughter, Mrs Lizzie Hughes, of Paintsville.
Years ago this mother gave her heart to god and was converted
and joined the United Baptist at the Old Thomas Creek Church where
she lived for many years but for some reason two or three years ago
she transferred her membership to the Freewill Baptist at Thealka.
This precious mother had the misfortune last July of getting her thigh
broken in a fall, this rendered her practically helpless and at the
time of her death she was making her home with her daughter-in-law,
Mrs. Buren Castle, at Lowmansville, Kentucky.
The body was brought to the Preston Funeral Home where it was prepared
for burial and then returned to the home.
On Thursday morning the body was brought to the Freewill Baptist Church
at Thealka where in the presence of many of her neighbors and friends the
services were held. The services were in charge of the Rev. Scott Castle,
assisted by Guy W. Preston. Immediately after the services the body was laid
to rest in the Thealka cemetery.
