Abe Stapleton 88 years old died at his home in Odessa
early Tuesday morning Sept. 26, after a long illness
He had been a resident of this community for forty-four
years.
Abe Stapleton, son of James and Nancy Stapleton was born
March 21, 1851. He was married to Martha Ramey and to that
union five children were born, one dieing in infantcy, and
another son, Will died a few years ago.
In 1889 he was married to Cynthia Kimbler.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cynthia Stapleton of the
home; three daughters, Mrs. James Gray and Mrs. Roy Wheatley
of Odessa and Mrs. Mary francis Brown of Higginsville; and
seven sons, Joe of Deevert,Kentucky, George of Grayson,Kentucky
and Frank of Odessa, John Luther of Buckner, E. M. of Excelsior
Springs,Ruey of Chilicote, and Nathan of the home.
He also leaves forty one grandchildren, twenty seven Great
grandchildren. One brother, Marion Stapleton, of Lexington, one
sister in Kentucky.
When he was a boy he was converted in
the Freewill Baptist Church, later uniting with the Pittsville
Baptist Church.
He was a good father and husband an honest neighbor and in his
sickness he never complained.
