Rites Tomorrow At Staffordsville For Merida Wiley

Merida "Bud" Wiley, 76, died here Monday, July 25, 1966,
after a long illness.


The son of J. M. and Manda Brown Wiley, he was born in 1890
at River, and had been a Paintsville resident for 30 years
at the time of his death. He was a retired employee of the
C & O Railroad.


His first wife, Carrie Stapleton Wiley,[d/o William P. and
Jenny Stapleton] preceded him in death in 1959. He was later
remarried to Alice Lyons Wiley, who survives.


A member of the United Baptist Church, he also was a Mason,
and member of Lodge 381. Additional survivors include three sons,
six daughters, a sister, 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Mrs. Ella Spears resides at Hager Hill. Two sons, Howard
and Clarence, live in Paintsville, and another son, Lance is in
Poughkeepsie, New York. Surviving daughters include Mrs. Ola Wiley
and Mrs. Bessie Adkins of Paintsville, Mrs. Effie Copley of Louisa,
Mrs Dorothey Mullins of Newport News, VA., Mrs Piney Beadles of
Hyattsville, Md., and Mrs. Madge Jennings of Lompac, Calif.


Services were scheduled for Thursday, July 28, at 10 a.m., at
the Old Union Baptist Church in Staffordsville. Burial will follow
in the Gambill Cemetery at Thelma. Officiating ministers include Cully
Sparks, Paris Music, Millard O'Bryan, and Lloyd Williams.

The Preston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
