Clarence Stapleton
1934-2000
Retired miner Clarence “Bear” Stapleton, 65, died Thursday,
August 24, at his Tutor Key residence. Mr. Stapleton was
born July 12, 1934, in Johnson County, to the late
Hansford and Amanda Daniel Stapleton. Surviving are
his wife, Alice Webb Stapleton; one son, C. Michael Stapleton
of Georgetown; three brothers, Curtis Sr. and Jimmy Stapleton,
both of Tutor Key, and Ervin Stapleton of River; and one sister,
Esta Mae Price of Mobile, Alabama. Funeral services
were held August 26 at Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with
Jeff Burchett officiating. Burial followed at Stapleton Cemetery, Tutor Key.
