Hansford (Hank) Stapleton, 77 died Wednesday, September 1, 1976
in the Paintsville Hospital. Mr. Stapleton was born
February 24, 1899 in Johnson County, the son of Cann (Rosencranz)
and Mary Ellen Arrowood Stapleton. He was a resident of Tutor Key,
a retired coal miner, and had been a member of the Toms Creek United Baptist
Church since January 25, 1925. Mr. Stapleton was married in Johnson County
on July 27, 1929, to Amanda Daniel Stapleton, who survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Curtis and Jimmy of Tutor Key,
Irvin of River and Clarance of Stone, a daughter, Mrs. Esta Mae Price of
Mobile, Al; a sister Cora Price of Florida; 23 grandchildren and 5 great
grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 5, in the Toms Creek
United Baptist Church with Elders Buell Ferguson, C. J. Sparks and Charles Price
officiating. Burial was in the Stapleton Family Cemetery at Tutor Key
with Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements.
