Joseph Walter "Joe" Stapleton

Joseph Walter “Joe” Stapleton, 78, of Detroit, Michigan, formerly
of Johnson County, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Oakwood Annapolis
Hospital, Wayne, Michigan. Mr. Stapleton was born October 25,
1922, at Flat Gap,to the late Paris and Clara Lemaster Stapleton.
He was a teacher in the Johnson County School System before
moving to Michigan, where he retired as a pipe fitter.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Stapleton.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline Stapleton; and one sister and brother-in-law,
Flora and John Oliver of Detroit. Funeral services were held Tuesday at
Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ellis Hamilton and
Elder John R. Pelphrey officiating. Burial followed in Salyers
Cemetery at Flat Gap.
