MARY "MOLLY" STURGILL STAPLETON
Mrs. Mary Angeline Stapleton age 68 passed away Saturday
afternoon,April 17, 1954, at her home in Flat Gap after
an illness of several months.
        Mrs. Stapleton is the mother of Dow Stapleton, Supervisor
of Johnson Co. Schools. Mrs. Stapleton was born in 1885 in
Johnson County, Kentucky and was the daughter of
J.M. and Lettie Brown Sturgill.
                                                                                                                                                                Surviving are her husband,Crate Stapleton,one son,Dow Stapleton of
Flat Gap, and four grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers
and three sisters. Herbert Sturgill,Harry Sturgill,Mrs. B. R. Vaughn of
Ashland, Mrs. Bert Thomas and Mrs. Tollie Phillips Of Flat Gap.
                                                                                                                                                                Funeral services were held Monday April 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the family
residence by Rev. Lonza Reed, and Rev. Tommie Bailey. The Toms Creek
Quartet rendered vocal selections. Burial was made in the family cemetery
under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
