Ollie J. Stapleton
WISE -- Ollie Jean Stapleton, 84, died Friday,
Nov. 5, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital in Norton.
She was born in Indiana, a daughter of the late Ed and Lola Todd Smith. She
lived most of her life in Wise County
and was a member of Hurricane Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Wise. She
was the widow of Milton Stapleton.
Surviving are three daughters, Wilma Jean Markham, Diana Shell and Virginia
Hylton, all of Wise; 10 sons, Claude Stapleton of Boone, N.C., Robert S.
Stapleton of Abingdon, Sonny D. Stapleton of Oklahoma City, Okla., George
T. Stapleton of Sterling Heights, Mich., Ronnie Dean Stapleton of Beckley,
W.Va., Wayne B. Stapleton of Royal Oak, Mich., Wilson A. Stapleton,
Martin Stapleton and John Stapleton, all of Wise, and Marvin Stapleton of
Kingsport; two sisters, Elizabeth Acton of Indiana and Eula Ruckel of Ohio;
two brothers, Charles Smith of Eubanks, Ky., and Johnny Smith of Kentucky;
34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Carty Funeral Home
Chapel in Norton. Elder Lester Baker will officiate. Burial will be in John Point
Cemetery in Wise.
Mrs. Stapleton was also preceded in death by a son, Elmer Vance Stapleton;
two sisters; and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Carty
Funeral Home.
