Services For Well-Known County Resident
Farris Arrowood, 70, died at his home in West Van
Lear Tuesday, September 10, following an illness of two
weeks. A native of Johnson County he was born March 25,
1887 the son of the late William J. and Martela Welch
Arrowood. He has made his home in West Van Lear for the
past twenty five years. He formally served as Police Judge
of Van Lear and prior to his retirement was employed by the
Consolidation Coal Company and Cox's Garage.
Survivors include his widow, Julia Daniel Arrowood, one son
Clyde, Dayton, Ohio, one daughter, Nella Arrowood at home.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Julia
Russell, Merrimac, WV., Mrs. Emma Brown, Van Lear, Mrs. Florence
Wallace,Waylan, Mrs. Nancy Castle, Tutor Key; Garrett Arrowood,
Kodak; Liss Arrowood, Gallipolis, Ohio; Pete Arrowood, Kenova, WV.,
Marion Arrowood, River.
Funeral services were held at the Paintsville Church of God at 2:30
pm Friday, September 13, by the Rev Moses Kitchen and Rev Robert Kitchen.
Music was by the Toms Creek Quartet.
Burial was in the Richmond Cemetery
in this city.
