KEMPER,Esquire, Governor of the Commomwealth of Virginia, TO all to whom these presents shall come-Greeting: Know ye that in conformity with a survey made on the fouth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and 58 by virtue of(^added here two) land office warrants no.s 12.972 & 19.714. There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto JOHN M. STAPLETON assignee of JOHN OSBORN a certain tract or parcel of land containing, NINETY ACRES lying and being in the county of LEE on the North side of Newmans Ridge and bounded as as follows To Wit; Beginning at a Dogwood near a path, corner to across POLLENS land and with a line thereof N 60 1/2 W(degrees) 16 poles to a large white oak Sugar tree and stake on a line of survey made in the name of HUDSON LAWSON, and with lines of same N 56 E(degrees)46 poles to a beech and stake; N 23 W(degrees) 86 poles to a stake on a __?; thence N 70 E(degrees) 20 poles to a black oak, corner to a survey made in the name of JAMES BOUNDS aside with lines thereof S 25 E (degrees) 80 poles to two large poplars, N 55 E(degrees) 110 poles to a stake,N 40 W(degrees) 55 poles to two beeches in a line of survey made in the name of SAMPSON BLEDSOE, and with lines thereof S 17 E(degrees) 77 poles to a poplar, beech and ash, N 82 E(degrees) 38 poles to a double lynn; N 55 S(degrees) 44 poles to an ash and lynn; N 76 E(degrees) 34 poles to a buckeye and large oak on the side of a steep bluff thence S 27 E(degrees) 32 poles to a white oak and poplar on the top of said ridge, and with top of the same S 57 W(degrees) 342 poles to a stake, thence North 45 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said JOHN M. STAPLETON and his heirs forever. IN WITNESS THEREOF, the said JAMES L.
