Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of part of an exchange Treasury Warrant Number one hundred sixteen and offered the the sixth day of May one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty four. There is granted by the said commonwealth unto CHARLES STAPLETON assignee of ROBERT Mc__? who was assignee of JAMES HAWKINS a certain tract or parcel of land containing Seventy two acres by survey bearing the date the Ninth day of August on Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty four. Lying and being in the county of Botatourt on the waters of Roanoke, and bounded as followeth To Wit, Beginning at a Spanish on the North side of the river near the mouth of Seneca River and running North fifteen degrees East thirty six poles with a line of his own land to his corner Poplar and Spanish Oak hence South Seventy degrees (^added above the line thence West) Ninety four poles to a Spanish Oak. Thence North Seventy degrees West Eleven poles to a Poplar in a hollow leaving said line North Fifty Seven degrees East Sixteen poles to a White Oak. Thence North Fourty Six degrees East Thirty four poles to a White Oak. Thence North Twenty three degrees East Fourty three poles to a Hickory and two White Oak saplings. South Seventy two degrees East Twenty poles crossing a run to a white sapling, South Fifty three degrees East one hundred and Eighty eight poles, Thence South Fourty poles and Thence North Sixty three degrees West one hundred and sixty poles to the beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land. With its appurtenances to the said CHARLES STAPLETON and his heirs forever.
