Notes:
Miner SEARLES was a blacksmith and a Civil War Veteran.  His Civil War file describes him as being 5 foot, 9 inches tall, with brown eyes, light hair and with a fair complexion.  He enlisted on 3 September 1864 at Buffalo, Erie Co., New York.  On 1 July 1865, he was at Arlington Heights, Virginia.  Shortly after Miner was released from the military, he worked as a blacksmith at Whites Edge Tool Factory in Buffalo, New York, from 1865 until 1874.

Prior to enlisting into the military, he and his wife, Mary A. [SCHRANK] SEARLES, raised their family in Attica, Wyoming Co., New York.  They were married in Varysburgh, the town of Sheldon, in Wyoming Co., New York, on 30 January 1859.

Miner SEARLES' Civil War file states that he was born in Cattaraugus Co., New York; however, no verification of this has been found.  After getting released from the military, he and his family moved to Buffalo, New York where he died.  Both Miner and his wife are buried in St. Mathews Cemetery, Buffalo, Erie Co., New York.

Notes:
Henry WIEDRICH was a retired Batavian merchant where he had run several meat markets and a grocery store both on West Main and State Streets in Batavia, New York.  The family were all members of the St. James Episcopal Church in Batavia.

In 1897, Typhoid Fever hit this family hard and they had to hire two nurses to help take care of everyone.  Henry and Mary Jane's 8-year old daughter, Iona, died from the Fever after having been ill for several weeks.  Two of the daughters, Stella and Fern, decided to become nurses after this outbreak.  Then, during the flu epidemic of 1918-19, they rendered their untiring services throughout the county.

Notes:
Family information passed down is that Robert MCINTYRE, John MCINTYRE'S brother, was famous in the theatrical field as a ventriloquist. In 1910, Robert was a widower and was found living with Lillian and her children.

G. Allan NORTHEM remembered an incident whereby at Lillian E. [SEARLES] [NORTHEM] MCINTYRE'S 70th birthday celebration, she did a jig on the diningroom table. He also remembered that she married Robert MCINTYRE after putting her youngest son, Minor, through a ministry school.  To date, no record of this marriage has been located.
