Owned a fertile farm near New Lebanon Springs, New York, but being le d by his wife and two sons to join the Shakers, he turned in all hi s property. Becoming dissatified in a few years he left them but hi s wife would not accompany him. His sons, however, soon followed hi s example, and in 1830 were farmers in good circumstances in New Leba non. Reuben went into Greene County, New York, remarried and raise d a large family.
