ASHEVILLE - Doris Hensley Rector, 75, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, after a long illness. She is now reunited with James "Jay" C. Rector, her husband of 49 years who passed away in 1995, and their son, James R. "Randy" Rector, who passed away in 1999. Mrs. Rector was a lifetime resident of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late Chester David and Edith Owenby Hensley. She worked for BellSouth as a long-distance operator for 20 years before her retirement in 1989. She attended North Asheville Baptist Church. She is survived by many who will cherish her memory: two daughters, Ann Queen and Sandy and her husband, Bill Whitworth, of Asheville; two sons, Tony and his wife, Carlee Rector, and David and his wife, Lynn Rector, all of Asheville; sister, Jeanne Ailene Austraw of Charlotte, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss their "Nanny," Kimberly and David, Jay, Jeff, Lara, Adam and Shawna, Matthew, Cory, Maranda, Austin, Gigi, Sophie, Gracie, Leah, Carmen, Erin, Sydney, Jordan and James. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Enka. The Rev. Jimmy Dykes will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
