This deed made this nineteenth day of January 1876 by JOEL RECTOR and wife ELIZABETH RECTOR of Madison County and State of North Carolina to GEORGE G. RECTOR of Madison County and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that said JOEL RECTOR and ELIZABETH RECTOR in consideration of one hundred dollars to them paid by GEORGE G. RECTOR the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain, sell an convey to said GEORGE G. RECTOR and his heirs a tract of land in Madison County and State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of J.J. GUDGER, M.P. PENLAND, JOEL RECTOR and others bounded as follows viz: Beginning on a black oak, the beginning corner of said GEORGE G. RECTOR'S tract he now lives on and runs south six degrees east fifty eight poles to a stake near the river at the JOEL RECTOR old chimney, then west to the top of the lick log ridge, then with the top of said ridge to JAMES RECTOR line, then northward along said line to the line of GEORGE G. RECTOR'S home tract, then down the ridge with said line to the beginning containing fifty acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and all priveleges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said G.G. RECTOR and his heirs and assigns to his only use and behoof and the said JOEL RECTOR and ELIZABETH RECTOR covenant that they are seized of said premises in fee and right to convey the same in fee simple that the same are free from all incumbances and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said JOEL RECTOR and ELIZABETH RECTOR have hereunto set hands and seals the day and year above written.

Be it remembered that on the 26th day of January 1876 before me D.F. DAVIS Probate Judge personally appeared JOEL RECTOR and ELIZABETH RECTOR the grantors named in the foregoing deed who acknowledged the due execution thereof by them as their act and deed thereupon the said ELIZABETH RECTOR being by me privately examined seperate and apart from her said husband touching her free consent to the execution of said deed she on such examination declares that she executed the same freely of her own will and accord and without any force, fear or undue influence of her said husband or any other person and does still voluntary assent thereto and hereby relinquishes her right.
