This indenture made and entered into this the eighth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy five between JOEL & ELIZABETH RECTOR of the one part and GEORGE G. RECTOR of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to us in hand paid by the said GEORGE G. RECTOR the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey unto the said GEORGE G. RECTOR a certain piece of land on the west side of French Broad River and in the County of Madison and State of North Carolina. Beginning on a small black oak on the top of the ridge in sight of the river on the said JOEL RECTOR line that runs to the JOEL RECTOR old chimney on the river and runs up the ridge by the said G.G. RECTOR'S fence and between him and JAMES RECTOR to the top of the main ridge at the wagon road to a stone corner, then northward with the wagon road forty poles to a black oak and black pine on the east side of said road, then down a small ridge eastward to a branch and down the branch to the said JOEL RECTOR LINE, then with said line to the beginning containing fifty acres more or less and including the place where the said G.G. RECTOR now lives. Together with all ways, woods, waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging, shall and will warrant and defend the same fee and clear from all claims unto him the said G.G. RECTOR his heirs or assigns. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals, signed and delivered in presents of.

In the Probate Court this day before me, D.F. DAVIS, Probate Judge of said County appeared JOEL RECTOR & wife ELIZABETH RECTOR the grantors named in the within deed and acknowledged the same and the said ELIZABETH RECTOR being by me privately examined seperate and apart from her said husband, she on such her examination declares that she signed the same of her own free will and accord and without any influence on the part of her said husband or any other person and still voluntary assents thereto recorded and ordered registered, May 19th 1878.
